What Makes SEM Different
Why It Matters

You’re part of real climate action

Buildings are one of the biggest sources of energy use and carbon emissions. Washington State’s Clean Buildings Performance Standard requires larger commercial buildings to improve energy efficiency or face financial penalties.

Many business owners do not know where to start. SEM Advocates help them take the first step.

  • Reduce energy waste
  • Support smarter building operations
  • Help businesses avoid costly fines
  • Move your community toward sustainability
What the Program Is

A paid internship with real responsibility

The Student Energy Management program is for high school students who want more than a typical part-time job.

You’ll work in a small team, supported by mentors and a broader SEM team, helping local businesses move toward compliance, lower energy costs, and reduce carbon emissions.
